After a longgg time of waiting the long awaited departure date is upon me. Leaving today out of SEATAC airport at 2:30 pm to LA then Auckland and finally Chistchurch for my hunt. On the list is Tahr (male and female), South Pacific goat and maybe a red stag (depends on my negotiation skills on site). Will round things out with some varmit shooting and finally some touristy stuff in Chistchurch on the way back to the states at the end of the hunt. Hunt report to follow when done.

Hopefully the Antarctic centre at ChCh airport is still going. Get there well before 5pm so you can do the whole thing properly. It's a novelty to Aussies at least, maybe not so strange to inland North Americans.

You must get the outfitter / guide to take you wallaby shooting for one afternoon. it is great fun and very unique. Try and test you shooting skills on a hopping wallaby at full speed!

Good luck and have fun.

Yes, it is still going. We were there a couple weeks ago. Pretty well the entire downtown area was closed though.

Some hunt news. After 2.5 days of hunting, I have my Tahr, a great bull with 13+ inch horns, really blonde mane and NO, thats NO helicopters used on this hunt. Checked out some red stags today but nothing shot, going back tomorrow. Did get some wallaby shooting in, managed to get 4 for 4, but no running shots. Once i get home next week, I'll type up a longer report and try and add some photos.

I know, I know, I've been home a bit now and nothing added, but been busy catching up with home stuff too. I do have a report ready, just need to get it added and then fight the picture thing too.

Short version is I got my stag, 17 points total. and finished with some possum and duck hunting before the hunt ended. I'll try to get the report on here soon.
