With the notable exception of elephant and leopard (which are totally banned imports into Australia), bringing in African trophies is not that hard.

You can get your trophies mounted in Africa and then brought in as complete trophies, ready to hang on the wall, but your shipping costs will be higher.

Alternatively, you can get them forwarded to a taxidermist who is accredited by AQIS to inspect and accept your capes and horns, and then have them mounted here.

In either event, your PH should be able to arrange all this for you. Who are you hunting with and where?

I use South Pacific Taxidermy of Melbourne (Gary Pegg) who is a quarantine registered for imported capes, skulls, skins etc.

Tell him John Hahn gave you his name if you phone him and he can give me a discount on my next load of trophies from Africa!!! Smiler I have six more to come over.

Gary has done almost all of my African and Australian taxidermy and does a good job with very lifelike mounts.

I am particularly picky on seeing examples of mounts before I use a taxidermist as many do OK work but 5% is missing which IMO spoils the mount.
