Its very slow @ present, Muzza.
I don't know who will win but I always used to hope a Ford would take the honours because I was partial towards Fords for years.

Then we got a new WRX 12 months ago and I realized that the V8's we had weren't the answer as far as handling and speed went.

If a WRX was in the race, I know who I'd have my money on Wink

I used to like that race the way it was years ago when you could see just about anything with 4 wheels straight out of the showroom flogging around the circuit.

It was much more interesting than the fully commercialised & corporatised 2 car race we see now IMO where it's more about money and TV personalities than the cars themselves.

About the only thing those cars have in common with your average road car is the Ford/Holden badge on the bonnet.

Holds very little interest to me anymore.

Ditto, lost it' allure for me years ago.Now it's more about selling the merchandise.

I couldn't give a FF who won.The best I can remember is Gricey's win in the Chickadee C'dore.(Started in last place) clap What a legend.

Regards,Shaun.

I agree totally with both above.

I don't suppose anyone else remembers when Allan Moffit took a GTHO Phase III out of Broadmeadows and went up the "old" Hume Hwy when it was just a lane each way and occasional overtaking lane. I think it was 1969. He got unbelievable headlines by being clocked at 144 MPH back when there was no speed limit.

He got to Wodonga from memory before the cops got him by closing the road with transports. He was taken to court in Broadford and was charged with "dangerous driving" but was let off as the p[olice couldn't prove he was driving in a way to threaten other road users.

Front page news for days in that tabloid "The Sun" that was as worthless then as it is now.

Apparently, the gov't started to put pressure on Ford because it threatened to cancel contracts for fleet cars and the Phase IV was dropped soon after it had started into production.

I don't know whether that part is true but I remember the papers having a field day with road going cars being capable of such speeds. clap

My brother had a GTHO and it would certainly go.

We looked at the Ford Enforcer with the 5.4L and a six speed box. Drove it, looked at the tag of $65,000, the "rough" finish; the fuel consumption meter went up to over 20 L per 100 k's under rapid acceleration. Then looked at the WRX and there was no comparison.

I won't be watching Bathurst. But at least three car loads from here headed of on the (very) long day trip up there.

I was hoping to watch today but apparently WIN television and the wonders of modern technology shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence . Nothing but a blank screen for several hours . homer

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

This year I decided I was going to follow two cars in the big race. Mark because I have been a fan since he started racing cars. Also I wanted to watch young Jack Perkins as I always enjoyed his dads racing days because he would build a car and race it as well. Thought he would take after his dad in a way. Well we all know what happened, but now I think I should send both of them and apology for jinxing them Frowner
