A 45 caliber doesn't need to expand ... it's already big. In my Marlin 1895 i have been using 52grains of IMR3031 behind a Speer 400grain FN projectile for approx 1800 fps.Works like a dream.Unfortunately IMR powders are getting hard to find in Oz, so i am going to work out a load using AR2208 and a 405grain Woodleigh FN

I get really good results with my Marlin 45/70 and AR2207 I use 52 gr for the 300 gr sierra and 46 gr for the 400 gr speer, 405 gr woodleigh and Rem.
