Well - the thing we all hoped would never happen but always expected happened today. Some white supremiscist type gunned down a bunch of people in a mosque then travelled to another mosque and did it again...

Watch the anti gunners provoke hysteria and see the knee-jerk reaction our politicians will come up with.....

I`m keeping up with it while the news is unfolding right now.

Firearms used? Yes and the calls will go out by the Greens to ban all firearms but if they are banned the loons will use a truck like that was done in mowing down and killing 86 people in Nice 2016 by Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel.

I'm out bush on Exercise at the moment. Heard about it in orders. Very sad.

Sorry for the victims.

I do like Senator Fraser Anning's blunt take on why it happened though. We need more people who speak the truth here in the US.

I have seen the video. It is hard to imagine what kind of sick mind it took to do something like this. Absolutely twisted.

I am sure gun control will be in the future. The reality is that the use of a gun may well be relatively minor compared to what a sick f@&k like might do.

One part that annoys me is this paragraph.

Queensland senator Fraser Anning is being investigated by police after being egged while speaking at a political meeting at Moorabbin in Melbourne's south-east.

I ask why? He was attacked by the germ with the egg.

Our Prime Minister has stated that firearms laws will be tightened , so no doubt that wil be a knee jerk reaction egged on ny the anti gunners and the mouth piece of the New Zealand Police Association , who is totally anti firearm.

The end is nigh .....

27 years and I have never felt so much grief for NZ my new home country.

The whole country is hurting.

We do not have the polarised hate politics here like you see in other countries.

The fact that this guy came from Australia 2 years ago with preconceived plan is just sickening and frightening.

The Aussie politician Fraser Anning is a sicko. The failure of NZ immigration was to allow this guy in.

Fraser Anning claims that the muslim community here in NZ is full of islamist radicals. That is just not true.

We just do not need such rhetoric here in NZ.

This is our equivalent of 9/11.

9/11 made our country stronger I am afraid that you well only see your rights eroded and your country made weaker.

They are already to ban semi autos and cutting back on free speech.

One of the valuable lessons we learned from 9/11 is fighting back works.

Disarming victims does not.

P dog shooter

May I politely request you to have your say on the Political forum if you want to go down this track. I would really appreciate it if you deleted your post and transferred your comments to the PF.

This is NOT a political forum but more a Aust / NZ forum and we discuss general matters and not have polarised show downs.

We in NZ are really grieving and this was imported terrorism with ideologies more common in the US.

We just do not see such polarised discussions here. I am sure there are a few White supremacists here but they are very few and very isolated. They do not come out in the open.

Please let us keep such ranting to the PF.

I feel for you guys.

It sucks that one disturbed soul can bring so much sorrow strife and pain to so many.

I'm glad to see the NZ media is not giving this dirt bag his 15 minutes of fame by putting his picture and name on the front of every news article.

The media is conducting a beat-up on legal firearms ownership though , and our Prime Minister has stated that the gun laws will be changed by monday.

I fail to see how anyone , let alone a group of people as diverse and publicly ignorant as our coalition government can make any sort of reasonable attempt at law change in that time frame - and with no consultation with those who will be most affected.

So far the rhetoric & political approach has focussed on semi-auto & military style weapons & limiting magazine capacity.
Hopefully thats where it continues to focus into the future & mechanisms are provided where landowners & contractors with legitimate needs for larger mags &/or semi auto can apply for specific license & get a fair hearing.
Here's hoping.
There's a way to go in establishing the legislation & the supporting regulations for its application.

I loved the NZ PM statement that she will never refer to the idiot by name.

What about they focus on the root cause and nail these nutbags instead of lumping all the decent people that own firearms into the same mix. "they" dont distinguish between nutters and us as they feel that anyone with a gun is a nutter.

Bearing in mind that one mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist , I guess you can make anyone into anything you want if you word it appropriatley.

What isnt appropriate is you guys outside NZ turning the discussion into some sort of political football in the hope of making some sort of "them vs us " contest.
