Following is a press release explaining why Dreamworld reneged on their decision to allow NIOA from holding their Christmas party at Tiger Island - a commercial venture exploiting caged animals for profit. Anyone with an opinion on this can contact Dreamworld direct and let them know. There's no excuse for ignorance and descrimination. 6th October 2010 To whom it may concern With regards to Mr Nioa’s enquiry to hold an event on our premises, Dreamworld has expressed that we are more than happy to accommodate his request in any location at both Dreamworld and WhiteWater World with the exclusion of Tiger Island and the Australian Wildlife Experience. Dreamworld acknowledges that the Australian Firearm industry is a legal and respected industry that is notably undertaking many works to ensure the safety of Australian citizens of which we are supportive. We respect the committed work of the firearm industry and also respect the work of conservation organisations with which we partner, and of the dedicated staff that work within our wildlife departments. For more than 25 years, Dreamworld has been operating a wildlife facility that educates our guests on the plight of Australian native species and actively works both within Australia and internationally, to deliver a conservation message for the protection of endangered animals. We have established strong alliances across a wide range of wildlife organisations and it is important for us to protect this relationship and ensure we fulfil our common objectives to promote conservation through education and ongoing support of the species we manage. Tiger Island was developed to inspire guests and the intention is to activate a conservation message to support the survival and longevity of these species. This includes the formation of our own Dreamworld Conservation Fund. In addition, Dreamworld also provides support and funding to ensure the survival of endangered species and partners with Australian non-profit organisations such as the Australian Koala Foundation and Save the Bilby Fund. These financial donations are enthusiastically contributed to by Dreamworld and guests who trust the conservation ethic of Dreamworld. We believe that these guests, along with our partner organisations, would consider it inappropriate to grant the use of our Tiger Island facility to an association whose website shows exotic animals being killed in their natural habitat for sport and trophy. It is for this reason that we have declined to host Mr Nioa’s event at Tiger Island and the offer to host this event in another area of our park remains open. Once again, I would like to reinforce that Dreamworld supports the legal ownership and use of fire arms within Australia and as previously offered, we would be delighted to host Mr Nioa’s event in any other location within Dreamworld and WhiteWater World. We look forward to being able to reach a conclusion on this matter and hopefully all concerned can respect our position. Kind regards Noel Dempsey Chief Executive Officer Dreamworld & WhiteWater World

Does this mean that Dreamworld will refuse to take booking from any Japanese tourists because DW have a problem with whaling? Cheers, Dave. Aut Inveniam Viam aut Faciam.

Only if they post photos of whaling on their website. The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. I couldn't agree more with you Bob, but it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth the selective hypocrisy that Dreamworld display here. regards Jacko "To my deep mortification my father once said to me, 'You care for nothing but shooting, dogs and rat catching, and you will be a disgrace to yourself and all your family.' NOIA refuse to do business with anybody who does not have a shop front , It doesn't matter that you have a dealers licence they refuse to have anything to do with you ,I believe they also discriminate in who they will give accounts to and who they refuse .It's not like we have to many choices as to which wholesaler we can buy from. NOIA are one of the best reasons to shop overseas IMHO , good to see NOIA refused service ,maybe they can take a good hard look at their own practices. It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack; not rationality.

Darwinmauser; you are correct there about the shop front demands etc. A friend of mine went through all those things with Nioa recently. I believe he had no trouble with Robert Nioa himself but more with his senior staff. I still don't like that Dreamworld used tree-hugging whale-rolling "ethics" to refuse the booking. They may be entitled to legally refuse anyone but it sends a biased message to the public as usual and their reasoning has no basis in logic or fact. Predictably the media sides with Dreamworld and paints Nioa and hunters as murderers.
