I understand people go all the way to New Zealand to hunt, but there also some nice beaches there.

Raglan Beach

Cathedral Cove

Hahei Beach

Karekare Beach

Since my favorite is Piha Beach, here are several views.

Just for the record, all of these photographs were taken with a Nikon Coolpix A camera, a pocket camera with a fixed 28mm equivalent lens. Nikon only made them for about two years, 2013 to 2015 I think. I bought it used a couple of months ago. You may have noticed that clouds are in many pictures of New Zealand, not just mine. They are a permanent fixture, and like Brittany in France, the weather is nice, several times a day. These were all taken between Christmas 2017 and 6 January 2018 while on my first vacation in New Zealand.

Beautiful pics! Was the water warm enough to swim in?

Try the east coast beaches!

Ohope beach - I lived there once and owned a house for 7 years. Plenty of other great beaches within an hour or two.

Purangahu beach - Hawkes Bay

Kaikoura

Great fishing right through.

Very cool pictures. BTW there are animals on the beaches, the first two photos of Piha Beach show Lion Rock, the second photo especially so.

And it is aptly named. As for swimming, the water is a little cold.

West Coast beaches are notoriously dangerous for swimming. Rips and undertows appear in moments and many swimmers get into difficulty , particularly at Piha.
Raglan is the spiritual home of surfing in new Zealand.
West Coast beaches tend to be either rocky or black iron sand , East Coast beaches tend to be white sand and less rocks.

Wink,

Because of your recommendation, I'm driving out to Raglan tomorrow to take a look around.

I forgot to throw in a black and white of Lion Rock. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but there seems to be a black and white logic for some pictures.

Great images Wink. I never gave much thought to New Zealand's beaches -- until now.
