Greetings. I'm researching hunts where I could hunt multiples of bulls and pigs. Trophy quality is not my focus but I'm looking for a good experience and this would be my first trip to Australia. This would most likely be a big bore handgun hunt so I'm looking for spot and stalk and close shots. What can be done for around 10k? What outfitters should be on my short list? Thanks. _______________________________

There are only a few outfitters that do handgun hunts, and you won't be bringing your own handgun.

That's the first I've heard about no handgun entry. I've got plenty of appropriate rifles but would prefer a big bore pistol. _______________________________

Ahh...the laws following Port Arthur. It's been awhile since I've followed the Australian political climate. Well, that idea's gone. Could go with a rifle of course. _______________________________

Check with Matt Graham. He does cull hunts. He did say: "there's no bulls that are not trophies". but, a buff and ?? can be had along with a bunch of other culls for less than ten grand he said. Good luck, hope you can make it. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight

No handgun import for hunting; no reason except there is only one state where it is legal for O/S handgunners to use the outfitters handguns, if they are suitably licenced.... so it just isn't on the Feds radar. I have a Ruger 44 Redhawk and Super Redhawk 454 for hire. BYO ammo, grips and scope/reflex, sight if you use one. As Matt has said its not a problem hunting with a revolver if the Outfitter supplies the revolver. I've guided several hunters using revolvers on large bodied Water Buffalo, Banteng using 460 S&W, 500 S&W and 45/70 Gov. All work fine using premium bullets. However for 10k I think you had better look at some large vermin type culling if you want to get some bang for your bucks. As in "My friend Flicka" and his long eared buddies

In Aug. I'm going with Barry Seabrook of Gunsmoke Ad. for a non-trophy buffalo hunt. He as had cull hunts but does not do them anymore. We have to recover the meat but should shoot 3 or 4 a day.

good for you Bama Seabrook is a fine man and a keen hunter you should expect to have a grand time you just may have a ''will never forget it'' kind of a hunt Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----

I'm looking forward to it, never been "Down Under." I'm working in a couple of days of fishing after the hunt just to experience all I can while I'm there.

I've done Barry's cull buffalo hunt, and a number with Matt Graham for both feral and buffalo (trophy and otherwise). Heck, I even did them back to back. You're in good hands either way.
