Well I barely go back to SA after visiting WA and I had to disappear on leave again, so I could not post how it went.

Anyhow the trip to Perth, Kalgoorlie and Laverton (Sunrise Dam Gold Mine) was a life experience.

The most common uttered phrase: "No worries, mate!" I could not get over how NOTHING is a problem for the average Australian. Everyone was very friendly.

I visited a rifle Club who were having a competition out at Swanbourne range and chatted to some of the blokes. They were all shooting Lee Enfield surplus 303's.

Didn't get to visit a gunshop but I came away from The Stockade in Wellington St loaded to the gunnels with moleskins, coats and shirts. Got a nice pair of RM Williams boots.

Kalgoorlie was fun, the skimpy bars were pretty entertaining and Oz is the only place on Earth I know where they sell Whisky and Coke ON TAP. (yuk!). The SuperPit was pretty awesome.

Out at Sunrise Dam I got to see the real outback, complete with brumbies and boomers. Unfortunately got into a C for Serious drinking session with the Bundaberg and Coke Brigade and fell in action. I did NOT enjoy the flight back next day. Good thing Skippers was running late, I would have puked in the plane. As it was there is some seriously fertilised spinifex behind the fuel bowsers at the strip. I could not believe how much beer these guys were drinking.

Anyway a great trip in a great country.

I spent my Xmas visiting my 92yo Grandmother who lives in ....Bundaberg.

Good to hear you had fun. A few of the men I work with have gone over to S.A to check out some of the mines ( work trips). They all said similar things about how they were treated in S.A I,m just waiting for my turn to get a spiv trip over there now. I wont hold my breath though
