With the ban on lead shot for waterfowling being relativly recent in NZ, and the sales pitch's targeting semi's as a neccesity, there are a heap of side by side and under and over shotguns going for a song. You can still use lead shot for birds such as pheasant and I decided I wanted a better pointing gun for this than my semi or pump so picked up a nice little Spanish made side by side for 400nzd or roughly 250 american.Like a boy with a new toy, I raced home and went for an evening shoot. Missed a couple, but scored a couple as well. Only one in the pick because the other wasn't photogenic after the required finisher. now It's taking me back to the start of my hunting carreir, "remember to keep your head down with a side by side", my father used to say.

200 is a fantastic steal. I deffinatly feel that these older guns are easier to shoot well than the longer and bulkier semi's. Will probably do a comparison next duck shooting on number of shots fired per bird between the two. Also how many times I need a quick third shot.

I couldn't believe how cheap the doubles were when I was over there. Was hoping to bring one home, but missed the one I really wanted and didn't have the money! ----------------------------------------- "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. -Henry David Thoreau, Walden
