I hate to be a bearer of bad news, but it is with much regret that i heard today that Gordon Alford of sydney died of a Heart attack yesterday.
For those of you who knew him no explanation is needed to who he was in the Big game hunting scene.
For those that don't, there is not enough time for me to tell you all what Gordon was to the international hunting world.
Needless to say, he was the pioneer without peer to big game hunting in Australia.
President of SCI South Pacific chapter, Masterscorer for both ADA and SCI.
Over 130 animals on display in his home, having done the taxidermy himself.
The G.B. Alford award named after him, given to anybody who has taken ETHICALLY the 15 big game species of the South Pacific.
Seasoned hunter with at least 5 African safaris that I am aware of, plus hunts all over the globe.
May he rest in peace, and his legacy to hunting here in Australia, live on.

I heard the news myself today. The hunting fraternity will be poorer with his passing.
I know of at least one hunting club that will be mourning his loss. Club meetings will not quite be the same without him.
My prayers and best wishes go to his wife and family.

A great loss for the Australian hunting fraternity. Gordon was a true gentleman who treated everyone, whether a novice or experienced hunter, as an equal and always made you feel welcome at club meetings and hunting get togethers.

My condolenses to his family.

So true, except that Gordon will be missed not only in Australia, but also all over the world wherever there is a hunter who knew him.

He was a true gentleman.
