Since it has been a bit slow here lately with hardly any pictures of anything I will post a couple of pretty scenery shots of floating islands at our Scenic Reserve / Conservation area . These are lumps of reed that break off from the reedbeds and the wind blows them back and forth across the lake . Kids use them as diving platforms and ,they travel quite fast with just wind propulsion . Just thought it was better than more shit slinging and in-fighting.... ________________________ Old enough to know better

Muzza Perfect place for some ducks, hey? I would love to see the Sudd in Sudan where there are massive floating islands of matted weed, reportedly strong enough to carry large beasts such as buffalo. The Sudd provided a barrier of a maze of channels that disappeared and re-appeared to boats trying to travel up the Nile.

I can well imagine the Sudd being an impenetratable mass . These little floaters will stand half a dozen big kids jumping up and down on them before they eventually break up so bigger lumps may well support a buffalo. I guess the buff wouldnt mind if he fell off anyway . ________________________ Old enough to know better
