Took the boys out to one of the big dams here abouts yesterday. No fish but did manage two of these beauties. Had them as an entree and they were fantastic. I've never had redclaw before but now I have a taste for them. Have to get out there and get some more.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Interesting, are these "crayfish?" They have tons of crayfish here in my part of England and I think ill go and get some when the water warms up a little bit. How did you catch yours?

Sorry mate, I've been away for a few days fishing with my boy. These are freshwater critters called redclaw, caught in an opera house type trap with rockmellon and pawpaw for bait.

So these critters are veggies?

Not like Yabbies that eat guts and snot and crap, but taste delicious?

Generally mate, you can get them with cat food but fruit/potato etc works better.

Nice size, Bakes, about twice the size of our crawdads.

We have yabbies in the dams as well Bill which would be about the size of your crawdads, but these things are native to more northern waters and so there is no size limit.

Cheap dry dog food works as a bait for red claw and cherpin because it contains a high percentage of vegetable matter.
It is good to as it does not attract crocs like meat does and easy to transport.

We cleaned up once on cherrabin on the Vic river in the NT on donkey meat. Turned their noses up to everything except some smelly donkey flesh. No crocs in that area luckily Big Grin
