Still, free air fare, new friends, * better gun laws,
what's she whinging about. She's now applied for refuge

And if the paperwork says she's an alian, it don't matter
where she learnt her trade. :-)

"Now mate , you missed one or two relevant facts in the story - the woman ( she is 26 if I recall correctly ) has lived in Australia since she was 6 months old . That hardly makes her a New Zealander , now mate does it ? She has to have grown up in the Aussie manner "

You ain't an Aussie citizen here until you have the papers in hand or were born here. Too many of this sort on our shores in my opinion. Either get naturalisation papers or f#@% off in my opinion and go home.

NZers, Yanks and Poms are the worst for not getting naturalised and believe it or not can or at least once could vote here as if they were a citizen. Still can if they managed to get on the electoral rolls before a certain date. Our gov't considers it too hard to 'weed' the electoral roll out.

A bit of loyalty to their "new" country should be expected.

NitroX,

We have a worse problem here, it's wetbacks, and there's millions of them. They sneak in illegally and try to turn the US into a third world country.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against immigrants, just they should become citizens if they plan to stay here long term.

It is interesting to see the statistics. When I saw them the average Englishman, Canadian, American took well over twenty years to become a citizen. Other Europeans between 10 and 20 years and Asians often quite quickly.

Australia makes it very hard for Kiwis to become citizens as they must know how to read and write to say the pledge.

Muzza

Marriage has been around here for quite a while but unlike NZ we keep trying to avoid recognising marriage between men or humans and sheep.

I think the American agricultural economy would collapse without them.

NitroX and JAL, you are both right to a great extent, but let me try to give it a less than political perspective. The illegals do come here to the US to work, most of the time, and only when it suits them. They usually do jobs that most Americans look very down upon, roofing, agriculture, and meat processing, etc., so the real rub is not that they take American jobs, but how they get paid and the benefits they are afforded.

If the US company can not pay the extremely low wages in cash, they will get one resident with a work visa and pay them enough to pay for his entire family, and then that visa'd person will pay the others in cash. The company looks like they are paying one, but are getting 5 or more workers. Thr other part of the rub comes in that some of the states allow the illegals to claim welfare benefits, public school entry and medical benefits without them having to pay taxes. It burdens the entire system. Then, when they are tired of working, or worn out, they go back to wherever they came from and take the US$ with them. In their countries they are rich. When it runs out, they just come back and do it all over again.

In my never to be humble opinion, there simply needs to be a better system. OK, I'm off the box now. Have a Merry Christmas.

I would love to have a unskilled labour workforce to work for dirt cheap wages which could be housed in chicken sheds during vintage and other seasons. Yet we pay full Western wages to our employees and still can out-complete California in grape and wine production.

Actually during vintage we have a variety of Australians plus Kiwis, Norwegians, Germans, Swedes, English etc tourists that work on working holiday visas.

Don't sweat guys.Immigration is part of the normal Imperial progression.

First tribes band together, kick the shit out of some other tribes, and call themselves the 'special tribe' to validate when they win.

Supplicate other lesser tribes, on the basis they are not 'as special'.

Get used to easy living, bring in less special tribes to support the economy.

Lose 'special identity'- essentially breed out the psychos who built the empire in the first place.

Ultimately lose empire to next bunch of psychos who are feeling 100% special.

Hey, what Hog Killer failed to tell you was that Texas actually ranked as a 4th World Country before his "wetbacks" arrived. Not everyone likes upward mobility, ya know. -TONY
