My brother in law has a Remington 700 in .17 Remington and made a lot of money out of it when fox skins were good. He bought a Torana G-Pak with the money. Remember them ? I used it for about a year and loved it. I found the Remington 25 grain opened a little quicker than the Hornady which I kept for goats. I haven't used the lighter projectiles and with Calicivirus decimating rabbits out my way, can't see the use for them. Great cartridge.

I have a 17 remington model 700 BDL. It will drive tacks at 200 yards or less. If it is real windy or rainy it doesn't perform as well, I use a 25 gn pointed hollow point by remington at around 3900fps. I shoot varmits with it in texas all the time,, since then they have come out with a 17hmr that does not have the speed or the performance but a box of 50 shells is cheap,, great "plinking" gun. The 204 ruger is getting most of the small caliber attention now for varmits here in Texas you can make more money, you can not make more time
