Gents I'm cooked! Big Grin My feet, knees and thighs are F%$#ed. Went on a BIG hike in some steep river country after sambar on Friday and Saturday with a mate of mine on some private land he has access to. We saw a lot of deer, 30+ fallow very few bucks and it looks like they are just sprouting new antlers and 8 sambar, 7 females and calves and one spiker. We weren't after meat so we left then alone. Some of the photo's below are a bit dodgy as it they were all taken with phones at distance in low light.

Some photo's of the country we were in.

Some of the wallows we found.

As we were side hilling a steep face my mate stopped and 10 meters in front of him was the arse of a large wallaby. What he didn't see (Due to a bush) was a bloody big dead head. I did see it and as I came up behind him he said "Wallaby" I said "Check out the dead head next to it" And thus I sealed my claim to a 29 inch skull. Big Grin I did almost spew twice cutting it from the spine barf

Some deer pics
Fallow with a lone sambar

I'm sitting on my chair with blisters on my heels, knees are shot. One tough hunt.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

No mate. Possibly a Spotlighter wounded it and it went over the edge of the steep face and died.

Thanks Tony.
Good find for sure and glad you decided to keep it. Hope it finds a place in your man cave.

Tony:

A hike like that in Aug 1970 at age 26 is how and when both my knees were destroyed.
I have been half or more crippled with them since.

Don't do any hiking until they stop hurting,
then go easy for a couple more months.

It would be a good thing if you would start taking Glucosamine pills too.
They help build cartilage back.

Best wishes with them.

George

Do you see them as worth taking even if we have not had knee trouble so far?

I wore BOGS gumboots yesty...not recommended really. They are soft wobbly shits of things for muddy farmyards but they got me close yesty.

Bakesey there is no substitute for miles in any sort of boots. What you did the other day is far better with regular outings like so,then boots become 'old friends'

Paul:

Yes, take two every morning for life. Or at least until both knees have been replaced. The last couple years the doc's have been saying it helps with all joints.

Back in spring of '03 I was so crippled with knees and in braces I could barely walk. Mowing the lawn all I could do was make a lap or two and come back the next day. Took all week to mow 20 minutes of yard.

A friends wife sent me 6 bottles with orders: "take 4 a day and don't argue!". In two months I was out of the braces and nearly no pain. Back to 20 minutes mowing. Until then I had never heard of the stuff.

I had the R replaced in Oct'18. Fell soon after, and again the 3rd week. Dislocated the kneecap. Had it remounted. Two years later I tripped over my little dog and fell full weight on it and broke the top part and some bone out. Had it replaced. In all these years neither knee has been worth a damn.

I used to enjoy long hikes thru the woods, and running at times too. Now at times it's a challenge to walk across the room.

Take 'em, only thing you'll regret is the cost. To me, it's well worth it to cut the pains and make the left one last longer.

Gryph: what's been your experience with these pills? Fantastic pictures!

Thanks John and George.
I asked my wife, who is a retired nurse with two titanium knees, but she wasn't sure.

So far I only have very occasional twinges in one knee or the other but I guess nothing last for ever.

I'll run it past one of my doctors.
