To get email details for places which export components ,search under "sinclair international" , "Bruno shooters supply" and "Lock ,stock and barrel".
All are in U.S. Sometimes "shooters wholesale warehouse" in Canberra will import cases as well. Give them a call.

It's Lost River (not Lone, but close)
It could have been Darrel Casull(sp), Dave King, Fiftydriver or Boyd Heaton that mentioned techniques. The Long Rangers hang out at www.longrangehunting.com They have always been helpful, to people with honest intrest in long range, in the past, and I don't see any reason why they would change now.

The form you need for a import permit here in Vic comes from state police (licensining services branch) and they issue an import permit.

50BMG are not banned in Victoria, you can legally own one here Pro-Cal has one on speacial as advertised in the SSAA mag $14000 with dies, cases and a hard case.

Karl

Peter at Pro-Cal will soon get my reamer back which is for an improved 505Gibbs case (35o Shoulder) with no neck so any calibre is possible, reamer is in USA getting a sizing die reamer made to match it. This would be close to the cheytac case.

If your mate is hell bent on a long range rifle and doesn't want to go to the trouble of importing bullets & brass would suggest he look at 416 Rigby improved and necked down to 338 he could then use the Sierra 300grn match king which has a BC of .768 over 2300fps. There are guys like Boyd Heaton in the USA takeing elk out to 2890yds with this setup, 70lb plus bench guns, 30+" barrels which you need to burn slow powders to get max vel. Don't forget the metre base range finders and bigeye bino's, some guys make the bino's by combining 2 spotting scopes. Theay take the first shot say 100yds left or right of the target to get elevation right then zero in. Unsure if it was Boyd but some of them were packing the bench & rifle in on horse back.

This was idea behind my 416sw although wasn't planning going beyond 500yds just wanting heavy hitting reaching out rifle, should have got a longer barrel.

Cr500, thanks mate.Do you have contact details for these companies by any chance-I assume they are in the US?

Far Canel,

Basically Warren jensen came up with the idea and worked with a guy who used to post here a few years ago-Ross Spragud, who owns Prairie gun works in Canada. He builds the actual rifles for hunters and spec forces.

As well as the $8000-$10,000 sniper rifle outfits you can have one of their less expensive 'normal' hunting rifles based on the same 408/505 gibbs cases such as the 375 PGW and the 416 PGW.

All will beat their respective weatherby counterparts by 150-200fps.

So about 7000ftlbs for the 375, and 8000ftlbs for the 416.

Muzza, bertram brass would be an easy choice but is not suited for the highest pressures-as 416sw will tell you. I beleive his rifle is basically the same as the 416 PGW and bertram brass was only barely faster than a normal 416 wby.

I have heard bertram may actualy have a contract to make high pressure brass from some overseas mob but can't remember what.

Karl.
