Sitting in Charleston in South Carolina , waiting for Hurricane Michael to roll on up through Florida and Georgia.

First hurricane we have ever encountered like this - watching with interest. Its interfering with the hunting too....

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Stay safe and have fun!

Hopefully stays calm.

Wife got caught in Sandy in DC 2012. Stayed inside hotel by orders. When allowed out nothing was open, so guess we’ll go back there one day..

Pretty much a non-event in our street.

I can guarantee you it was a significant event here. Winds topped 100mph. Eerily quiet when the eye passes over but damn noisy for 9 hours otherwise. Lost at least 40-50 LARGE pines and 25-30 big oak and hickory trees. Luckily nothing hit the house(lost a gutter and part of the backyard fence) but the damage out in the surrounding woods was bad. It took all day with a chainsaw and tractor to clear my driveway( it’s a half mile long). No power since yesterday afternoon and none expected for 7-10 days. No running water, either, as we are on a well. The generator supplies the refrigerator and some lights but that’s it. When the eye approached, we sat on the floor of an interior hallway for 2 hours. We were lucky to avoid significant damage but the clean up will take months. Parts of the woods around the house look like a bomb exploded. And we were lucky!

Jerry:
Where 'bout's in GA? Didn't you used to complain about rattlers around the yard?
which is more fun?

Glad your place didn't get torn to pieces like many did. Whole lot of 'em in the paper will need much more than just cleaning the yard up a few days.

George

Muzza. did you get my friend Tysue's info on places to visit, wather permitting/Wilmington NC, Robert Ruark's hometown, the house he spent years living in , still there. and a place called Biltmore, NW of Charlotte, built by a Vanderbilt in the 1890s. Also, his note that you might want to visit Mitch Maxberry, Mr Max, who lives on the N.Island. Long range shooter, and inventor, etc. Hope all is going well with you.
