Just finished up at a meeting to discuss the VEAC submission to the Vic Gov't on the River Redgum Forest National Park proposal. Despite being dumbfounded that anyone could take their submission seriously, this seems to be a very real threat to the continued use of some 27 Game reserves that will be 'taken over' into the new National Park. Bottom line? No hunting. No fishing. No camping. No Offroad driving. All this in an area extending from Bright in the Alps, to Mildura near the SA/Vic border. Total cost? "$92 million, LESS the cost of the water to make the project feasible" Cost of the water? I'm glad you asked. Varies between $5.4 Billion per annum at the low end to 11.8 Billion per annum at the high end. Glad to see that bunch of tools using our taxes wisely... The only way to avoid this, is to get writing. Premier, Environment minister, Treasurer (if I was going to lose that much money to tree huggers, I'd bloody want to know about it!) And you local members, both state and federal. We will probably lose, as it seems that the State Gov't has already done a deal with the Greens, but we have to try. Otherwise you can kiss hunting in about 1/8th of the state goodbye. Cheers, Dave. Aut Inveniam Viam aut Faciam. | ||
