Taking some scraps to the chickens and saw something dart into some long grass. Quail I thought as I snuck over and threw a stick into the clump. Bloody rabbit popped out!

I have hares on the place but haven't seen a rabbit in the 5 years we've been here. I'll have to start practising with the bow now.

I have a resident family of rabbits at the moment - my 8.5 acres is surrounded by 22 houses so its surprising the cats havent got these guys .

Perhaps the fact that I pelt the main offender cat with stones from my slingshot might have some bearing...

That lush forest looks mighty nice from here in the desert of New Mexico, with the Winter Solstice just days away. Our driest five months lie ahead.

I know a New Mexican from Pinos Altos near Silver City and any photos from there usually show a lot of dust!

I did much the same today George,watched 7 'black blobs' feeding and just when i was about to break into camera light they moved into the bush.I studied a stag for a long time,he was a wait a few years job. One spikey should consider himself lucky that he ambled off...in time.
