Have not used the sst yet, are they worth getting or should i stick with the standard softpoint version. Want to use either 165gr or 180gr in a 300wsm. What's everyone's thoughts or experiences. Will be using them on sambar. cheers cc

CC hello there i have tried the sst in 90grn .243 and 129grn 6.5x55, and harvested a few roe deer with them and each bullet has blown up upon impact, bit like a v max, so ive gone back to the interlock bullet.

Hornady Interbonds would be a better choice for Sambar "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." Sir Winston Churchill

I will give the interbonds a go, seem like the shot. Thanks for your reply's. I thought it would get more, but it seems every-one else don't shoot anymore, they just dribble non hunting crap, lost me. cc

cc the interbond will hold together no worries there....but with sambar you need MASS/BULLET WEIGHT!!!!use a 200 gn tsx or at least 180 tsx daniel

I think the 139gn 7mm SST must be designed for short range shooting . Hard to hit anything past about 100 yards with 4 inch groups . I've got about 70 left that anybody can have if they want to pay postage . The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. cc, I couldn't get them to shoot in Winchester pre 64 M70 fwt .270 Win. The best bullets I have found so far for my .270 is the Hornady 130 gr Spire flat base (now called interlock, stock # 2730) and the 140gr SPBT. Both these shoot around ½†3 shot groups @ 100 yards. The interlocks shot one group 0.261". Cheers & God bless, Magnum308 Only accurate rifles are interesting

I would not be using either of those bullets if close range shots are possible from any 300 magnum, both would be good at long ranges where impact velocities have dropped off though. For the bigger deer like sambar i'de be using barnes TSX bullets or any of the bonded bullets like nosler accubonds or hornady interbonds & you will have a better chance of good bullet performance at most ranges.
