416Sw and PC I am wondering if the reason the 416 ones are okay is because these are expected to be a regular non bonded but still '416' bullet. For example maybe the jackets are the similar for all big game configurations which is why the lever action ones seem tough as hell. Then again someone else liked the 45-70 bullets.... Has anyone sectioned and compared any of them? Karl.

Found the 375 taipan bullets soft, with vilonet expansion. The 250gr are devestating on ferals as are the 300gr and the 350gr give good expansion for sambar. The hornady 220gr and the speer 235gr, will give over expansion at those higher velocities. They are not as tough as regular hornady bullets, as i had 270gr hornady's penetrate railway track, where as anything in the heavy weight range for taipan, exploded in a puff of grey smoke. Have sectioned a 300gr and a 350gr, very thin jacket as for the 250gr as well. cheers 338w

Karl, know I have not sectioned any mate, but they do expand quite readily on our thinner skinned stuff, but I have not managed to shoot a pig yet with one.

338win, Bugger.... I've been chasing Sambar this year with the 375H&H loaded with a 300gr Taipan . Looks like I'm lucky not to have taken a crack at the deer seen so far. Oh well back to the Woodleighs. I'm really surprised that 300gr of projectile would expand violently, but then I knew the Taipans were soft, just not that soft. Thanks for the heads up. Cheers...
