Well that`s not right bakes. We are two different countries, you know that.

Muzza old mate, you are quite correct thus we should extrapolate further on Australian guiding and tipping.

Matt seems to know what he is on about with tipping and presumably that`s based on his Australian guiding,I would like to hear more of it.There have been some BIG tips received in the 'up north buff industry"

If it contains legit questions I'll unlock it. If its just a thread to stir shit I'll lock it again. Wink

Why isnt it legitimate?

Its a topical thread and needs to be addressed rather than lumping it in with our NZ bro`s and their own countries methodology.

There has been quite a few threads on tipping in various countries on many forums BUT I am yet to see one on Aus.
Discussion forums are just that and you have allowed the 'other' thread to degenerate to this stage btw...hhhmmm

Matt

Do you pay a fair and full wage to your guides? Or do you pay your guides a bare minimum and expect them to top up on tips so that they can make a living?

Please answer it to the point with out all the smokes and mirrors.

How does mind your own business sound? I already gave my policy and expectations more than once and told you that most safari workers in Australia are private CONTRACTORS - but who generally get paid the equivalent of award wages. Tips aren't mentioned at ANY time.

I didn't allow anything, that topic followed its own course. As I said IF you have a legit question then ask away. Given Matt is the only Aussie guide that posts here, any questions are directed at him. If he wants to answer then he can. He's made his opinion clear in the "other" topic however. If this is just going to be a shit stir then I'll lock it. Simple.

Peter is guiding brown bear hunts in Alaska right now, as if he would give a fuck about some Kiwi wankers interrogating him about his clients tipping habits. He is likely smarter than me and would just tell them all to take a hike!!

Want to explain what constitutes a kiwi wanker as opposed to an Aussie wanker there Matt? Appears to be a severe case of the pot calling the kettle black , to me ....

I think this whole thread is a waste of time , its been done to death already and will only turn into a shitfight , which is already happening .

Quite right Muzza - I was only referring to a couple of wankers, just happened to be Kiwis. The ones crapping-on endlessly about peoples private business and how tipping threatens to tear-down the NZ economy. Putting shit on ALL guides and outfitters, regardless of their activities. Just wankers.

Matt

We are NOT talking about your clients' tipping habits. We already know about American attitudes towards tipping.

We are talking about your FULL disclosure or lack of it.

Are you telling your clients that you pay a full & fair wage?

Do you tell your clients that it is not part of Australian culture to tip like in the US or Africa?

OR - Are you trying to establish a habit or practice of tipping in Australian hunting industry to top up low wages?

I am asking you to disclose openly YOUR policy & business practice?

Why are you not disclosing this key information?

Just answer the questions without spewing, name calling etc.

I don't know why you think you can somehow discredit me with these absurd questions? Go argue with a fellow New Zealander about Australian wage conditions and tipping policies - apparently most Australian readers here don't give a crap.

Gents lets give it a rest. Matt hasn't answered your questions in the other post so he's not going to answerer them in this one and he doesn't have to. Lets stop the name calling and perhaps post something Aussie/NZ hunting related.

In my experience a tip wouldn't normally be related to quality of animals taken but rather the effort put in to make a hunt successful, relatively comfortable, etc.

Ah thats a point of course but there is the hunter (with dough) that does connect with an absolute monster...whatever! Be it bear, moose, buff, lion, wap, ram and outlays the tip/tips in some serious gratitude.

I am aware of Swarovski spotters tipped..that to me is a serious tip ha ha.

I know another bloke that got a 10 grand hunt tipped to him..thats even more serious!
