Vern Perason would be about the best in New Zealand and is based at Taupo.

There is a guy locally here who does freeze-dry taxidermy. His work looks pretty good , dont know about his prices though.

Failing that there is a guy on SH 1 at Marton who appears to do good work.

Tried a google search - or the Yellow Pages ? Or the classifieds in the hunting mags.

Fair enough . I dont know how the process works for antlered heads but it does - he had some of his mounts on display at the Sika Show over the weekend and there was no noticeable differance between his method and "normal" taxidermy.

But there are a lot of taxidermists out there , if you were in the South Island I would suggest O'Roukes at Pleasant Point in South Canterbury. Most any of the big-name taxidermists will have a fairly long waiting time - like a year or so - due to the workload.

I could not find a website for Vern Pearson either.

I have seen i lot of his work,he does a great job.

I don't where you live Paul,if you shop or been in Gun traders & outdoors in Hamilton most of the heads in the shop were mounted by Vern.

If you do a NZ Yellow Pages search for taxidermists you will find one in Levin, and one in Marton , and from memory one in /around Napier. Or you could phone one of the local gunshops and ask if they could recommend someone in the general area . Someone in the local Deerstalkers Assn should be able to point you in ahelpfull direction as well .

There are a lot of smalltime taxidermists out there who dont advertise at all, just like to do it as a part time job .

If you are interested - the freeze-dry taxidermy guy has a website -www.freezedrytaxidermy.co.nz ( I think thats right ). Might be worth a look for comparisons sake .
