For a buffalo hunt in the NT early July I am bringing a 404 that has no markings on it to indicate the manufacturer. It does have a serial no. on the action.

Will I have problems with customs (Darwin)since there is no name on it? I already have the required gun permit etc. from NT police in hand and they have no problem with the rifle.

My PH recommends I have someone engrave the name of the action on it but I hate to do that unless it is necessary.

From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Mate you'd be better off shooting Australian customs an email and getting it direct from the horse's mounth so to speak.

In that case the serial number alone will suffice.

I am hunting with Graham Williams of Australian Buffalo Hunters. We will be hunting in Arnhemland wilderness in the N.T. The charter plane flies into a strip about 5km from Bulman. We drive to camp from there.

Graham cautioned me about having the name on the rifle however the NT police who processed my gun permit said they could not see where customs would hold me up over that.

I cant wait...been wanting to do this a long time.

Thanks for the replies to everyone - I really dont want some amateur engraving my rifle.
