I shouldn't have at this time of year, but I shot over to aus to spend a few days helping Gryph with work and hunting in our spare time. Once again a great trip with Gryph putting me in some great spots to stalk some of these wily deer.

First stag. Only an our into the trip.

Next stag first thing a couple of mornings later. I was rapt!

The best part of it Nige was `ol shanks helping me out immensely on the farm....never mind the sambar stags.

I do have to say that it is a pleasure to have a bloke that can both hunt and shoot and doesn't need his hand held.

Brent up in the top pic with son Kyle played their parts also on the first stag hunt..

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Gryph

Have done that a bit before, from drenching sheep, driving sheep, dipping sheep,
fixing water pumps !!!

Well worth it.

Nice stag, Craig. Must be something about cutting your teeth on other species. I met a young Taswegian who'd shot a 26-incher and another one of 27.5 last week. Everyone seemed impressed that the heads were wide.

Is the length/width balance out of fashion now?

It maybe a typo on your behalf but the word stag should be stagS..he took two!

Sorry guys, I was in a hurry and thought they were one and the same, that the first was moved for a second pic and that the second was not shown. So what did they measure, length and width?

Paul, they went 26 and 25. The widest was 31.5 from memory.

Yeah, one will deffinatly go on my wall as my first Aussie big game, but I think I have a hunger to keep hunting them now after I caught a glimpse of possibly a much bigger one.
