What do you mean mate?

------------------------------
A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Saw on the tv news tonite that some dork in Canberra decreed that the words mate and cobber were off the politically correct phrase list and werent to be used anymore . Caused a bit of a stink by all accounts and Little Johnny Howard had to extract himself from his office and make a statement to the effect that it was ridiculous and wouldnt be happening - or basic words to that effect .
I was worried about you guys , how else would you talk to each other if you couldnt call each other overtly gay psuedonymes (sp) in that friendly way you all have .... Confused

ME MATE!!!!

Want to come around for a good Victoria Bitter and I'll get the missus and the two kids go out the road for a while. Who knows, after a bottle of the green labelled Wild Turkey.........

beer

But I could easily see gays (no, cannot say that anymore) or "sexually differetiated" or "deviants" or just strange ones as legitimate targets------

I think, therefore I am.

Hell GBB - you dont have to beat yourself up three times in a row - once would have been enough!!! Wink

I see your dopey Government have issued a directive that everyone is to be treated with respect and fairness , and calling each other mate and cobber is now officially ok .

Dont these people have real jobs.....wankers!

At least you arent being treated to the worlds most obvious election bribes from your local politicians at present , unlike lucky us bawling

Your right Muzz, its a joke.

What happened was a security guard was talking to an MP and called him mate as he left. (you know - see ya mate).
The MP went sooking to the boss.

Silly buggers the correcto types, all this politicaly correct garbage leads to the immaginative bloke coming up with a new term, which we all know means, say, poofta.

How about "Austruckinfalian" for poofta? Nuff said.

Everyone knows the word "mate" is an acronym for "Men Are Tough Examples".

That is why Aussies don't use the term for Kiwis.

Quite right NitroX, I was always under the impression that 'sheepshagger' was the correct term for Kiwis. I wonder how things are in Helengrad?

Gents, you are going to have to interpret for those of us like me, who don't understand some of the terms...

What is a poofta? Wankers, and sheepshagger, and probably Kiwi I can understand, but terms like "cobber" and "poofta" are not used in the US, to my knowledge. And "on the turps"? Hmmm....???

Meantime, I had quite a good laugh reading this thread!

Righto..

A poofta or Poof is a homosexual,
A wanker is one who pleasures himself,
Sheepshagger is one who...well has sex with sheep,
Cobber is a mate or friend,
and being on the turps is drinking alcohol.
Hope that helps Wink

on the turps is really bad for you as i can atest today, but am silly enough to go back for another blast after last night. so by tomorrow, i will really be under the weather or "all systems shut down" but it has been a very enjoyable experience to date.

so i am glad we haven't got field and game tomorrow.

btw, i organize a school shoot here at our minyip club (rather, I get the kids there from about 25 schools) and as of when I left school last night, we had over 300 kids nommed up with six schools still to put in their final numbers

now, that day, 17 th Oct (monday) is going to be interesting.

been running this school shoot now for 7 years, our club has.

Just to add to the confusing use of the "English" language - being under the wether is a perculiarly Australian habit that wankers have of getting on the turps and waking up under a neutered male sheep - ie a wether.... Wink

Obviously very little of hunting merit has happened lately and we are back to amusing each other with Colonial humour....

Not exactly true muzza, although getting another Fallow doe for the freezer doesn't rate on the trophy scale, the family and friends will eat quite well for a while. Now to get some more Kies merlot to go with it......
Or perhaps some of that Pepperjack?
Let's see if the political 'wether' changes in Helengrad tomorrow?

Cheers, Dave.
