Anyone got any pointers on whats involved in canine taxidermy ? Obviously having a suitable , recently-deceased canine is a bonus but what about needing the entire skull or what parts etc .

Skin prep I assume is pretty standard , although I have heard that canines will slip their fur rather easily - is that so ?

Not looking at a full body mount , more a shoulder style .

Have a look here Muzza. http://www.taxidermy.net/forum/index.php

You don't really need any parts as your taxidermist will be able to get a form and jaw sets to suit. If you cant find any answers, at the top right you'll see a link to "old forums" where you can search the archives.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

I would think the TD would have to have the full skull for the job.

A mate from NM shot a yellow bitch in the high country with me on a sambar hunt and he had it done back home,it came up well but the NM TD used `yote eyes and it looks like its a rabid bastard.

Ears will slip quick and need to be done asap, they are thin and fiddly, unlike a table tennis bat sambar.

No mate, you just order a form and off you go. Muzza if your worries about slipping wear latex gloves while skinning, there is also a product out there called stop rot. From what I've read on the Taxi net forums its the bees knees.

David Luxford carries some but most taxidermist can order them in from the States.

Here's a link to two supply companies in the states. Van Dykes has a rep in NZ, don't know about Australia.http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/
