I just read a post I put up and I know I sound like an opinated tool. (yep, I know I am).

So, a question. How may rounds a year do we go through?

There are two active shooters in our home and this is as close as I can guess-

shot shells- average about 4,000

centrefire- about 3,000

Just rough guesses. The last 5000 LRP were gone in under a year but I reloaded a few for others.

.22 ammo- very few- maybe 500- but I doubt it.

When I still lived in Qld, and chased the pigs every weekend, I used a 270 win BBL per year, maybe 5,000 rnds. .22lr, maybe 2 cases (10,000) per year in practice, and maybe 5-600rnds in competitions. Now I'm in Vic and don't shoot pistol any more, I'm down to about 40-50 rnds of 270 Win and 10 or 12 of 7x57R plus a few (maybe 2 boxes) of 12g BB's on the foxes.

Cheers, Dave.

I rarely shoot targets, only to develop centrefire loads and a bullet or two to check the sights every now and again. Otherwise it is all fur, skin, hide or feathers. Even prefer that for practice compared to paper. Bust clays probably twice per year.

Now for the days of good numbers of goats or pigs where taking only two or three hundred rounds meant running out of ammo ......

Really just as rough guess.
Varies a bit by what I'm interested in shooting at the time. .22LR was a lot more before I bought the air rifle. Back when I was shooting IPSC was about 6000 just for psitol.
Air rifle 2000
.22 pistol 600
.22 LR 400
12ga 400
centrefire 200
