I need a NECG fore sight insert for my CZ 550 rifle. I cannot get it imported from the US because of all the new laws. Would somebody be kind enough to bring it for me when visiting NZ? Here is what I want - there are 3 option at the bottom of the page. I would like the white one & the fibre optic one. http://www.newenglandcustomgun...ces/Front_Sights.asp I would appreciate any help. "When the wind stops....start rowing. Well, that depends on someone willing volunteer. I feel uncomfortable asking for that option. Would such a sight be available in Oz? "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

Are you in a hurry for the sight? There is an American member that maybe willing to help, not sure when he will be in NZ again. "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." Sir Winston Churchill

You arent asking them to smuggle drugs or bury a body - just drop a tiny, innocuous piece of metal in the post. A day spent in the bush is a day added to your life Hunt Australia - Website Hunt Australia - Facebook Hunt Australia - TV

Thanks for the help guys. Really appreciated. Matt, the US law on the matter is very strict. Violation can lead to BIG problems. Any gun related item needs and export permit. I have problems importing fore sight, aperture sight, scopes, brass cases, projectiles etc. BUT I can import rings, dies, shell holders etc. I know it is strange that there is no restriction on scope rings but the fore sight is restricted! Go figure! The bureaucratic procedure is to get an export permit for SPECIFIC items & the license is valid for 4 years. I have no problems at this end. I do not want someone to get into trouble as a result of trying to help me.

If I can help you (receive the item and then post to you as a gift), I would be delighted. I am in Florida, USA.....just let me know if I can be useful. Alex aax1@bellsouth.net

Crikey .... you are making it a hundred times harder than it has to be. Do you really think the average US shooter would give a crap about dropping a tiny piece of metal in the post? I understand that US RETAILERS will not do it - because they dont want to jeopardise their FFL. Alex thanks for the generous offer. Nige - the rule it seems is US$200! A custom gunsmith on AR has kindly offered to ship one to me! Thanks to the AR community again. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

If you have benevolent friends in the USA it isnt hard to get stuff to NZ. If you read all the official guff it designed to make you lose interest , so dont read it , just do it , and pay the GST / tax on anything that gets intercepted. Even with the GST you will be on a win . Dont stress over it ;-) ________________________ Old enough to know better

Wayne Jacobson of American Hunting Rifles is a real great guy. He is selling me a foresight and shipping it along with 5 different height CZ factory rear sights so that I can get the zero right. The NECG white fore sight is 6 mm while my rifle factory sight is 5 mm. So I will have to change the rear sight to a lower "V". Thanks to all those who tried to help! probably not a great idea to publicly name whoever is going to post this to you , especially if it actually is illegal to post such items..... ________________________ Old enough to know better

Point taken muzza. To clarify the matter - It is perfectly legal for Wayne to send it to me as he is a registered gunsmith who exports firearms & firearm parts regularly to customers around the world. In fact, Wayne can do this without a specific dedicated license for my parts as long as the value is under $200. The problem is more with retailers and mail order companies etc. who have 2 issues - one with the primary supplier who may have limitation clauses in their dealership agreements. Secondly you have the US legal issues where the retailers / dealers need to have the right paper work and they do not usually export the restricted items. For example Brownell's will do it for a 3% surcharge but it will take 6 weeks or more & the value of the order would have to be significantly higher to make the export permit cost worthwhile. Similarly reloading international will supply bullets etc. which are restricted for a 10% surcharge & the same above issues apply. "When the wind stops....start rowing. I know what you mean Naki , we all have suppliers or trans-shippers who help us get goodies via the Postal system. I just dont like publicly naming them on public forums as these places are frequented by people in Government Departments seeking ways to catch naughty folk avoiding paying tax or breaking the shipping laws. Hell , I would be totally lost without my overseas contacts , so I try and keep them anonymous where possible. Congrats on finding your sight parts. ________________________ Old enough to know better
