Don't here the term much these days, but the old guns still have a place in the hunters battery. Planning this years winter hunt for pigs. Just trying to decide which of the old guns I should take?

L to R: 38/55, 40/65, 45/70, 50/70, 577 Super Snider and 22 Hornet

11 Shots with the 50/70

The Super Snider is accurate for pigs, 10 shots at 75yds.

Hold still varmint; while I plugs yer!
If'n I miss, our band of 45/70 brothers, will fill yer full of lead!

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

The .38-55 should be be enough and, with less recoil, allow quicker repeat shots. It might also shoot flatter for the long shots, too.
