Con I asked Malcolm earlier this year about making 50cal bullets and he said he was way to busy to make anything new, he having trouble keeping up with demand for what he already makes.
I asked about the 416 rem bullet he makes and he told me he had no stock and will not be doing another production run for 12 months
So I don't like your chances of getting any new bullets from him when he can't make enough of the ones he already sells
Just spoke to Bruce re 50 cal he makes 440? 535 and 570, going to go and have a look on Sunday at the gun show here in Melb.
Bad ass would think you could get the Bertram brass for $5 AUD each.

416SW,
Taipan makes alot of bullets for sure. Great and varied range but I wonder if he'd benefit from streamlining a bit. Drop the 416s for 458s I say!!?? I can't make it to Melb for the show but would appreciate an opinion of what you see, maybe also push Bruce on the price and see what he's prepared to do??
Cheers...

I wonder how '$1 across the board' works?

Not that I'm complaining since anyone who owns over 50cal knows bullets can be $2-$4 each for us.

But we are a very small market.

For his own purposes I would think he'd try and make more of an impact on .458cal where the money is.

NitroX,
Harder to find in the shops but another option if you want a light 300gr Taipan is their SSP projectile. I've got 100 to play with over Easter and want to see what speeds I can get out of the 458WM and Lott with them.
Cheers...

I think the streamlining sounds like a good idea. What he needs to drop is the cals where every man and his dog make a bullet - like the 458, just about all the companies make them he needs to concentrate on niche market

Just got back from gunshow spoke to Bruce. I asked him how they compare to Woodleigh's and he said not in the same league. They are not bonded just "pushed together", I said how do they compare to Taipans "they are the same maybe thicker in the jacket", to which I said I can buy 416 Taipans for $66 a 100. Bertram's (all calibres) are $50 for 50 or $90 for 100 forget other prices but the more you buy the cheaper they get.

Went to gun show with PC but he didn't buy any of the 480 grainers.

Bad Ass don't know where you are buying your brass but I asked him about the 577/450 and he said $5 each, had some head stamped "577 Kynoch" as well as 577/450 Bertram

416SW,
Much appreciated! With the Easter holidays coming up I've decided to take the hand press to the range and sit down for a days play with both the 458WM and 458 Lott. I'll get some of his 480gr projectiles to see how they go, I suppose its still cheaper than Woodleigh.
Thanks again.
