I have recently had my safe storage inspected (Sydney, NSW). Licensing section of the local police send out a letter for you to call them & make an appointment.

I was lucky & they could not have been nicer. They were happy to come after hours if that suited better.

At the appointed time the officer did not show up nor did they call. I called them, he apologised profusely said he got caught up in other matters & someone was supposed to call but didn't. Anyway finally turned up 4 hours late. Really nice guy. Saw the steel safe & said "Beauty!!" - (its a CMI gunsafe). The guy just wanted to get his paperwork done & get out of there.

I think it helps if you are prepared. So I had all my registration papers arranged in a file with tabs. We basically only went through the paperwork & of course he checks your licence. In a couple of weeks you get a letter that your facilites were inspected & complied. Good sheet of paper to have. They didn't even check serial nos, nor did I have to take even 1 rifle out for inspection.

I had been warned by my gunshop never to allow non licenced persons to open your gunsafe or you're a gonner so I warned the family.

They are out to tick boxes so make it easy for them and it will be less hassles for you.

Federal MP Tony Windsor is claiming the police are abusing their right of
entry into homes to inspect gun storage facilities. He says its a breach of
the firearms legislation if the licence holder is absent during the
inspection.

In SA I believe no notice is required.

My instructions to anyone here on the farm, is I'm not around, they don't even have keys to the house (which for some is completely true). Let the Nazi bastards break into the house. Which they do do.

Regarding the cases where a wife has opened a safe, there is a case which can be used as a precedent for defence. A court in Australia has already ruled it is not unreasonable for a wife to have access or at least know where a gun safes keys are. The Nazi's have already tried that one on and lost in court.

Some of these cops have to realise the defence of "only following orders" isn't going to work one day in the future.

Everyone has to decide whether they want to enforce and obey "just" laws or whether they want to be accomplices in an oppressive regime and enforce oppressive and unjust laws.

No one is forcing them to remain coppers yet.

There is no limit of firearms for a private owner. I would have got my video camera out with that copper there and asked him to repeat it so the TV shows could air it the next night.

Swaztikas - NO WAY!

While I was flying down the road yesterday (only 10 mph over) I noticed a cop with a radar gun sitting on top of a bridge.
The cop pulled me over, walked up to the car and asked me, "What's the hurry?"

I replied, "I'm late for work." "Oh yeah," said the cop, "what do you do?" I responded, "I'm a rectum stretcher."
The cop said "What.....a rectum stretcher, and what does a rectum stretcher do?"

I said, "Well, I start with one finger, then I work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then my whole hand, then I work
until I can get both hands in there and then I slowly stretch it until it's about 6 foot wide."

The cop asked me, "What the hell do you do with a 6 foot asshole?"

I simply replied, "You give him a radar gun and park him on top of a bridge..."

The ticket - - $ 195.00

The look on his face - - PRICELESS

The police in Queensland MUST make an appointment to inspect your facilities. I have had them turn up here at 9.10pm, I was home but I was working from my home office and I told the officer that it was NOT convienant at that time.

Well that triggered a witch hunt that cost me $3500.

Storage facilities not adequate; 2mm plate steel industrial switchboard had to be shielded by 150mm core filled blockwork. Return inspection; corefilled blockwork had to be shielded by 4mm plate dynabolted to the blocks and 6mm plate doors, all bolted hinges had to be welded on, 10mm mesh installed in the ceiling, 20mm plywood lining on the walls, steel door to the room - 6mm plate both sides, burglar alarm with blue indicator light facing the road.

So now we have 2mm lockable cabinet, surrounded by 150mm core filled block, surrounded by 4mm plate, surrounded by 20mm ply walls with 3 sheets of steel mesh in the ceiling, a 25mm thick all steel door, 20mm bars over the windows, 2.7kW infrared flood lighting and passive sensors and blue flashing light to a burglar alarm.

I stated that I had a copy of the Act and that the requirements he was enforcing were that required by a dealer. "With the number of guns you have here Sir you are oviously dealing, if you wish to argue I will seize all your guns now and you can put your case before a magistrate!"

There's another aspect to this, about 2 days after I flicked my ex, she claimed I had sent her a suicide note, and requested 'for my own safety, and the safety of our son' that the police confiscate my firearms, as I was na 'alcoholic'. (no I'm not, nor did I send her a suicide note!!). Police arrive at 11:00 pm on a Friday night (yep, beers after work!!) Oh s..t!! No chance of it being a 'convenient time' etc., etc. This is now a report of 'a person or persons at risk'!! So I let them in, take them into the room where the safe is, (male) cop says, that's the same safe I've got! I start breathing again!! Pull out the first gunbag, 'hey that's the same gunbag I've got! Breathing easier now, but still cautious, unzip it, it's got my Ruger 270. You guessed it, I've got a Ruger too! We then spent about an hour yakking about hunting and shooting while his (female) partner looked bored and shifted from foot to foot while we yarned. Checked all my paperwork, luckily I keep those in my briefcase, because she had emptied the place of all the furniture including all my paperwork. They decided that I wasn't a risk to myself or anybody else (being a psychologist helped, and they wanted to see my papers for that too! and they left.

Beware of the vindictive ex!! Then the AVO's, but that another story. Yes, they are expensive to defend, and all the person has to do is say 'and he owns firearms and I'm concerned that he might use them against me'!! Bingo - it goes to court, despite the fact that in her statement (see story above) she actually said that I had NEVER threatened her, and had insisted on safe handling, etc., etc. You have to sub poena that as evidence in court!!

Anything else you'd like to know about the intertwining of the Friearms Act, Family LAw and any other issues that can be thrown at you?? I'm sure I'm not alone.

It's a little "in your face" don't you think!

Certainly gets noticed, but completely safe thanks to the wonders of digital cameras with timers.

Its only a .450 and won't fit a Bolivar No.2 down it, but should fit a Montecristo Joyita or a H Uppman Petite quite nicely.

Of course we can share a couple of shots and a couple of smokes.

Even that would top the scales as the largest I would have ever shot ! My favorite smokes are Bolivar Bellicoso Fino's Cabinet selection. I also still have a few of the Millenium edition MonteCristo Robustos. As a Chef I also sample my fair share of wine While I mostly concentrate on the US labels now The wines from " Down Under" are getting very popular both in quality and value. Especially since serving anything French has become such a No No

Sounds like police state tactics to me. These butt heads need a lesson in deportment. Gemtlemen, study up on English Common Law. There is a section on "Statement of Claim" that is still recognized by the courts and is very difficult to defend ones self from without the proper knowledge and most current lawyers are not well versed in it. Go to www.detaxcanada.org and begin your education on selfpreservation and counterattack. derf
