Triennial Governmental Election.

The outcome was pretty much as expected , the incumbent National Party won with 60 out of the total 121 seats , and have several single MP minor parties aligning with them to give a majority.

The minor Parties did well at the expense of the other large party , Labour.

Probably too many folk still have bad memories of Labours Helen Clarke years.

Not that you should ever trust any politicians....

Thats harsh TP Wink

NZ's politics are entirely dictated and directed by the World Bank anyway so it doesnt really make much differance who is in power.

I think too many people still have bad memories of the Clarke years and her dictatorship , the huge increase in the Public Service in her tenure , and the imposition of far too many rules on peoples personal lives. And thats without mention of filling the seats of power with single , childless , and in many cases lesbian , women.

The social cost of the previous Labour Govt in NZ was totally the reason they got kicked out . Governments dont win elections in NZ - they lose them , and nothing is more certain than this current regime will lose the next time round.

Govts get into power cos we want a change , then they get arrogant and ignore what we want and so they get booted out . 3 terms is the max for any party in the last 50 years .

Lucky bastards! You got to have an election!

We would love one here right now. Gillard to Go!

Kiwis. good luck with your "new" gov't and hope they continue to allow your gun owning freedoms, and don't mess up your economy too much.
