Beetson played 17 games for NSW origin, then only 1 origin game for Qld in 1980. - Every time he was selected to play for Australia he was in a NSW team. - He captained Australia as NSW player. - He won grand finals as NSW player. - Beetson was selected[by QRL president, McAuliffe] from reserve grade Parramatta[NSW] to represent the Maroons as Qld origin captain in 1980. - Following the first SOG game in 1980, He was then overlooked by QLD selectors the following year. - Beetson was also then ignored by Qlds Ron Mcauliffe for selection as Australian coach. - QRL also sacked Beetson as a selector. Essentially, Beetson became a legend when playing for NSW. He became a RL 'immortal' mostly for what he achieved when playing for NSW. Without his extensive involvement in the NSW comp, Artie would never have realized his fantastic RL career. and how about this one; When Artie Beetson died in 2011, it was not anyone of his loving Qld fans or any of the long list of Qld. RL players, that identified his body, But his old NSW team mate Tommy Raudonikis. Are there any pig-hunter fans from ABs hometown region of Roma, Qld. that might like to chime in?....... | ||
