Mostly depends on where you will be .Once you know that you can narrow down the possibilities somewhat .

If you want a deer hunt but dont care about trophies then any time of year is ok , if you just want to be in the bush with the possibility of shooting something then goats might be a good option , available all year round and pretty accessable. Small game is available any time as Top Predator says .

A few more details and more definite help will surely be forthcoming .

6 days is long enough,But there is not much happening here in Jan/Feb.Deer are only just coming into hard antler at the end of February.I think Canadian geese can be hunted in some parts of the south island in February.There is alot of small game hunting all year round(Rabbits,Possums,Wabbies)
