What do you guys suggest for an air rifle that will drop a fox at close range?

There are some very powerful air rifles today, 22 cal should do it?? why not just use 22 rimfire

A scumbag killed a copper with one here just a while back. I think it was one of the presurised air cylinder jobbies.
Some of these run to quite high prices.

I would think a RWS 34 in .22 cal would work. The Sherdian Blue Streak in .20 cal will also work, the ammo may be an issue. My Diana pellet rifle .177 is louder than my .22 rifle when shooting CB shorts or longs.

Mate, ive dropped foxes with both air rifles i own.
I have a Diana 34 in 22 cal. This is pretty effective out to 30m. Always use a good lead pellet and not nylon/metal type as the barrels are choked and these type of pellets cause fouling and inaccuracy.
My Diana M52 in .177 however does a better job. .177 seems to penetrate the scull easier. Always use a heavy pellet in these. H&N barracuda or Beeman Kodiak pellets. Ive shot foxes out to 40 yrds in the head and they drop dead. .177 has a flatter trajectory and is a bit easier to head shoot them with for this fact. I would never consider a body shot.
If you want something just as quiet, use a bow Wink
