Still some good free range animals and plenty of them to be taken in NZ for meat and trophies.
Seven animals taken in two days by friend of my son and two other hunters. Good 15 pointer red stag (in photo) and another good 11 pointer among them.
6 year old grandson on the right and his mate enjoying the kill.

Eagle 27: A great stag. I love the righ side crown, bit the young ones holding him with those smiles are better than any score or points.

Great head, the hunter would be wrapped as would I be !

Not still around, but just coming back after 50+ years of slaughter !

Whats the story with these deer?

Full bodies brought home shows they were not shot in much of a place for the retrieve IE up high in the bush.

Shot up in the Canterbury high country, Rangitata River area. 4WD and quad bike access. Huge dump of snow last week has driven deer down.

Crimps, I was on Ben McLeod & Mesopotamia stations back in the day & we never had any thing like that around then !

Maybe near Peel Forest !

Great stuff

The decline in helicopter recovery is seeing good heads in the rough high country.

My mate Barry was in Queenstown area last week and 4 guys got 5 stags. I need to check how many were fallow bucks.

Last year they took a couple of 14 pointers and a good 12.
