Need some help from the Kiwis here... I was given a brand new Stainless Steel PES muzzle can with the label still on. Bloke said he didn't need it (it was a gift to him), and he needed some of my 375 brass more..... On the label is handwritten ".222, .223, .270, .308". I looked at the muzzle hole of the can, it will accommodate a .30 okay, but is this a "one size fits all" arrangement? The 'can is 38mm dia and about 10" long. If it works on my 22-250 I might ask my bro' in Auckland to send me some more. Are these 'cans any good?? Cheers pete If Chuck Norris dives into a swimming pool, he does not get wet. I suspect that PES has become MAE as a Gary McColl (McColl Arms and Engineering) a local gunsmith, bought the manufacturing business of Percy's silencers. He does seem to use a 1 size fits all, I have a rimfire silencer that is hard stamped for .17, .204 and .22. Of course .204 is a centre fire. Have a look near the groove around the middle if yours has one. Bore size is 7mm/.284" which is in my opinion huge for even a .22 but seems to work ok on my .17 Hope this helps.

Kiwi Vince is correct about the PEP/MAE suppressors. They are good suppressors but are very heavey. In my opinion the Gunworks Canturbury ones are better as they are made from Alloy and weigh around 380-400grames compared to 600-700 for the MAE ones. You will need to check about import/export requirements if your brother is going to bring one across from NZ to Ausi, He may end up stuck in customs if he hasn't got the right documentation. Sorry about the late input, just a third input to say DITTO to what the others have said. If could add some thing, MAE is constantly developing their "cans" I have an old one on my 223 and its heavy, Exactly 1 kilo. There is a new one made soley for the 223 its called T12.It is WAY lighter than the old ones , more than half and the DB is down too. They also make a Ti one, really light, and so will your wallet, about $800 NZ and Db is not so good(I THINK) Just one more thing with those supperssors, they need oil! I use a stuff called INOX, squirt it up the hole into the baffles, also take it apart, wipe off all the exaust residue on the pipe and inside it as well, as we all know about corrisive gases in barrels, well same applies here. Oh yeah, and dont leave the suppressor on the gun while being stored, this is why Thank god its not my rifle,it was a brand new demo Savage, it was run in proper, then some other SHIT HEAD got hold of it, shot the crap out of it, didnt clean it, left it under his bed(so to speak), then it was my turn to trial it and couldnt even get the can off the end, with a bit of persuasion it came off and this is what I found! hey Runas, thanks for the warning! Was that a chromemoly steel barrel or stainless? Did it clean up or was end stuffed by pitting? The crown looks like it is pitted in the photo. It looks to me like the gunk in the silencer has fallen back on the crown and therefore may have cleaned up. As a user of silencers on rimfires for years I havet had anything like this but have just started using silencers on centrefires. Interested in your feedback!

KIWI VINCE, It "WAS" a steel CRMO barrel, In a word the barrel is rooted, some work has been attempted to restore it but that has failed,it has been bored, approx .75" inside the barrel, and faced off but we think the Lans has some severe damage too(we can only see so far down), We still may cut off 2" & recrown it and see how it goes,or just give it back. jury is still out. The flakes that you see in the photo are in fact the barrel, not from the supressor, It looked like it was pulled up from a ship wreck from the bottom of the ocean. Like you, i have 22 s with suppressors on them, two a stainless, 2 blued, one of which I have never taken the suppressor off until I saw this, it hasnt been fired in aleast 2 years never cleaned either and its perfect, like new,not even a hint of rust. So me thinks (honestly, a guess) rimfires dont generate the same amount or a different type of gas that a centre fires do, therefore they dont corode as much, also the waxy coating on the bullets must do something also, I dont know truly, if some one does fill me/all in please.
