Heading to New Zealand for the first time in 3 weeks. Landing in Christchurch, and driving to the hunting country from there - Kiwi Safaris. Any guesses on what weather conditions might be like? Colorado in October, perhaps? Maybe not quite that cold? Would appreciate the insight from someone on the forum. Will be primarily bowhunting for red stag and hoping for a spot and stalk shot. But also bringing a hole starter if needed - 7MM Remington Mag.

Hello H T I have hunted in Canterbury quite a bit at this time of the year. There will be definitely be hard frosts in the mornings above 1500 feet, and probably below that. There are very likey to be some rain and above 2000 feet light snowfalls. The biggest thing to remember is that we can get all 4 seasons in the same day here, sometimes more than once, and its very hard to predict what will happen. Read that our weather is unpredictable - so you need to be prepared for the worst at all times - ie have a wind and waterproof layer that you can carry at all times. Cheers - Foster
