many years ago I tied a piece of cotton thread around the the guts of a blowfly and nailed the other end to a table with a drawing pin ,the fly kept flying for quite some time before it got tired (I was in a mining camp and bored shitless)the funny part was as the string got shorter it flew in ever diminishing circles

Muzza, any idea if it works? Looks like a hoot!! We used to use cicadas as 'unguided bombs' when we were kids, a couple of large crystals of 'pixie dust' (nitrogen tri-iodide) stuck to their heads, off they go, pixie dust dries out and explodes, with a purple puff of smoke... I don't think we ever hit our target, but we had a lot of fun trying!!! Wonder what PETA would make of that!!!
