Whats your choise for hunting peep sights, for a mauser action?

Yep just did after Von Gruffs post. Also did a search on Brownells and saw some nice ones.

I find the Williams sights too "ugly". I prefer the Sako type of sights or the Lyman bolt mounted sights like my MS here.


Rigby also had similar peep sights & I think there is someone in the US who makes them in small batches and sells them.

If you can persuade Din Collings in Wellington, he can make you one. He just needs to be motivated / convince to do it.

Bakes,if you hunt around you might find a Parker Hale sight for fullbore shooting.It mounts over the charger bridge.

IT would be neat if you can trawl one up.

Something trim and easy.

I think the Rigby style is best for a couple of reasons, first because it increases the sight plane by about 3 inches and as has been said the Williams is a little blocky to look at but works superbly with easier adjustments.
I did have to get another base made for the /williams on my 404 because the origional was too low even with the lowest NECG front sight bead.


The Rigby style is a unit hand made by Rusty Marlin in the States, and is an excellent piece of kit although there was a bit of tinkering to get it low enough for a QD scope to clear over it.

I think I prefer the reciver mounted one. Don't much like anything hanging off the back of the bolt.

Some nice rifles there Gryph. Not in my budget though
