I just had a scope away for testing( 6-20 Grandslam) as my 20VT started to spray them all over the shop. Turned out to be moly fouling which I have stopped using BUT the scope came back from SPORTWAYS DISTRIBUTORS and I will qoute thier letter.

Looking closely at the owners ring positioning, it appears that the scope is too far back. If you look at both the ring marks on the front and rear rings, the rear ring is so far against where the turrets are that the ring is gripping on the "slope" towards the turret. It would appear then that the rings are not gripping the scope suficiently with little bearing surface. It is here where there would be some movement of the scope.
It is suguested that the customer has the scope fitted so as to ensure that the scope is correctly positioned in the rings, holding the tube tightly, rather than on any sloped surface of the scope tube.

There was over an inch between the ring and the turret and is back on a rifle ferforming as it should.

Now, how many of you "knew" that your scope tube had a sloping section on the tube that you shouldn't use when setting up your scopes. How many manufacturers "KNOW" that the tubes on the scopes they supply us with have a sloping section that will let them move arround when mounted.
