AR Colleagues,

I’m planning a 2011 hunt to New Zealand and have been looking seriously at Phil Wilson’s, NZ Hunt operation for Red Stag, Tahr and perhaps a few other trophies plus a few days of sightseeing with my wife around NZ after the hunt. I would be interested in any information you may have on Phil’s operation any anything that I should consider in my planning.

I’m finding that nearly every NZ hunting operation I talked with or researched (most recently at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show) appears to be excellent in their operations, hunting ethics and opportunities but it makes the decision all the more difficult and often comes down to personal interaction with the Owner/Guide.

Any feedback you can provide will be appreciated. I am also open to other company’s and what they have to offer.

NZ Hunt Ltd

Thanks
Paul

I have hunted with Gerald Telford a long time ago when I was new to hunting in NZ. He is a top operator and his wife Sue is a pilot.

As suggested, there are some very good ones around and some who just chase the deep pockets and are not that experienced or skilled as real hunters. It is worth shopping around and getting feedback like this.

AR colleagues,
Apologies, I have been away from the Forums a bit and just now getting back to look at the responses to my post. Thank you to all who have responded and all PMs have been replied to. I'm still early in my search and I appreciate the feedback. I will look at the hunting outfits suggested here.
Paul
