Gday All.

Been a while since I've posted but I thought I'd post some pics of a recent hunt.

Jim and I recently completed the R licence course that permits hunting in NSW State Forests so at the first opportunity we headed out to see what game was about.

The forest we chose was a mixture of pine and native bush and was as dry as buggery. After spending the first afternoon prospecting a few different locations it became apparent that pine forest was devoid of game so we headed to the river to setup camp.

Just before dark we headed out to explore some of the native scrub. The going was tough due to the dryness and the twig and leaf litter cracking underfoot made moving quietly tricky.

We were stopping frequently and glassing and this strategy paid off when we spied a black head eyeballing us over an old tree stump. After a tense stalk we found the rest of the herd but we couldnt get within bow range so I nailed this nanny. Despite the dry she was in good nick.

The next day we were out early at a vantage point to glass the valley. The bleat of a goat in valley below got our attention and after some manoeuvring to get the wind on side we soon found the herd. Jim stalked in with the bow while I looked on. Despite being made by a sentry he still got in close enough to take this nice nanny

A peaceful couple of days was then shattered when about a dozen lunatics on motorbikes came tearing through the area. The upside was that they spooked a good herd towards us. I didnt fire due to proximity of the bikers but Jim nailed a good billy with the bow.

All up a good hunt and great to be back in the bush for a few days.

Always good to have an excuse. Hopefully there will be deer on the menu next time.

Good point about the blaze orange. We had square patches on the back of our packs.
