Cripes Greg - You'll be bloody lucky if its just the couch, I'd say that am emasculation would be closer to what you can expect . . . when I tell her.

Sounds like a nice piece, but shooting those larger boolits in the quantities you do will cost you bucks . . . .

Cheers - Foster

I was in there yesterday and picked up some Anshultz parts. When I got home I discovered my tax cheque had come through, lucky I didn't know about it then or else I would of walked out with a muzzle loader he has there!

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

I have the short Guide Gun version of this rifle in the same calibre. An awesome bloody thing.

Forget about buying any factory loads, they are loaded very light and are as dear as poison, $60+ a box, and go straight for the reloads.
I find the lighter 300 gr HP projs from Sierra and the likes tend to be very soft and open up like crazy giving very little penetration and maximum meat damage.
Rem 405gr flat points give good penetration and don't open up too quickly seem to be the best compromise for me, besides being the biggest bullet I can shoot comfortably out of a 6lb rifle without it knocking me around too much.

The 45-70 is a lot of fun to experiment with.

Try a 300gr cast slug over 10grns of Win231 for rabbits or foxes. Gives about 1050fps, no noise or recoil much and hits with a humongous "splat!" Like a 22lr on steroids.
I've loaded cases with lead shot and fired 410ga shells thru it with reasonable success too.
Have fun.

foster, next time we talk, my voice may be a little squeeky Eeker

avatar,
dont think this gun will ever have factory rounds fed into it. i was eyeing off the remington 405g flat points. they seem reasonably priced and heard a few reports gave them a wrap. but the 300g hps would be fun on the smaller pigs, thats about the closest thing we have to bunnies up here. dancing

Nah, I think it'll be quick. She said the same when I got my shotgun. Was it the skinny bird?

My last one was a couple of weeks back for a long tom , it took about 10 days from putting in the paperwork at H,doo to getting it in the po box.
