Specificly interested in whats available in the Kalgoorlie area. Also what is required to get a firearms licence etc.

We are thinking of giving the mining game a go for a few years but I think I could only handle it if I could get in some hunting while I am there,

Are the local cockies helpful to prospective hunters? This is the type of info I'm after.

Any advice would be appreciated

Happy Hunting

Game around Kalgoorlie (within a couple of hundred km) will include rabbits , foxes , feral dogs / dingos , feral cats , roos (with culling permits) , possibly camels , feral goats are around but now considered as livestock so will have to pay to shoot them .
You have to sit a basic test to get a firearms licence . Licencing category B (most centrefire) rifles is tedious and can take a few days to a few months depending on which cop you get .
Safe storage requirements include a steel safe and separate lockable ammo storage .

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.
