Those hard to find Winchester powders are now available. The only worry being with the events in the US it may be the last shipment. Mark

Mark , Winchester powders were not made by the same company as the firearms . Firearms were made by U.S. Repeating Arms Co. under license from Olin . It is the firearms plant that has closed down and presumably is on the market . Ammo and powders were made by Olin . Have read that Hodgdon has bought the Winchester powders from Olin recently .Not sure what this will mean for Oz ? Hodgdon don't export to Oz at the moment so far as I am aware . The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. I was aware they were different companies but as most Hogdon powders are made in Australia it is hard to imagine that we will get Hogdon in Australia. In real terms Winchester has been our only alternative to ADI. Mark

Mark , Wesfire are importing the Alliant range which includes some very good powders . Winchester will be missed though if Hodgdon don't send it here . Have a few others in their range (not ADI powders)that I wouldn't mind trying too . About 3 weeks ago, after reading the Press Release by Winchester/Hodgdon I emailed Winchester Australia to see if there would be any changes to existing arrangements and availability of Winchester powders. The original anouncement read: " Winchester signs license agreement with Hodgdon Powder Company 1/30/2006 Winchester Ammunition and Hodgdon Powder Company, two great names in reloading, are proud to announce a license agreement that is sure to excite every handloader. Winchester® branded reloading powders will now be licensed to Hodgdon Powder Company. Hodgdon Powder Company is the industry leader in supplying reloading powders. This partnership positions Winchester brand powders to best support the reloading customers’ needs. You will still be able to find your favorite Winchester powder, from 231 to Super Target, with the consistent supply and support you are accustomed to from Hodgdon Powder Company. After a brief transition period, Hodgdon Powder Company will assume responsibility for all orders, shipments, customer and technical service, including loading data for all Winchester branded reloading powders. Winchester Ammunition will continue to be your full line provider of world class ammunition and reloading components. For further information on Winchester branded powders, please visit www.winchester.com or www.hodgdon.com. " My question to Winchester Australia was: "Will the current Winchester Rifle Powders still be available in the future in Australia, and if so from whom? Currently I am not aware of any importer of Hodgdon Powders into Australia." Brian Mewha from Winchester Australia responded to my email with: "We anticipate no change in the near future to the supply arrangements of the current range of Winchester powders in Australia. Regards, Winchester " We all may interpret the above statment differently. However, I noted he mentioned "the near future", so does that mean the medium to longer term is not decided? Brian.
