As I mentioned in the "Darwin Hotels" tread, my wife and I will be touring/hunting AUS this Aug. We have our lodging sorted out in Brisbane (3x nights), Cairns (3x nights) and Darwin (3x nights), now just trying to find a place in Sydney (4x nights).

We're doing the normal Tripadvisor, Travelocity, Trivago, Orbitz and Airbnb but, with no first hand knowledge of the best city sights/activities/restaurants etc., it's a bit difficult to choose.

Any either direct hotels recommendations or areas of town to search for lodging at around a $200-$250 night US price point?
