contact:
Leroys Big Valley Gun Works(Glasgow,Montana)
http://www.gunsinternational.com/detail.cfm?id=100007384&string=cid=447
Leroys costs are quite reasonable compared to what some others charge.

You should be able to have the riflestock mailed to Oz without any of the paperwork(B709)typicallly required for actions or barrels.
..which Oz import dealer are you using to accept the barrel from Oz customs?...by the time you pay Leroys us$75 export fee+freight&insurance, and an OZ dealer(they want au$250 to help import anything for me) you probably looking at around au$400 total.

M98,
Whilst your right ... getting anything from the States is becoming a major pain in the arse.
Mate has a PacNor 50cal chambered/threaded barrel coming ... Vic Registry threw a "fit" that it was a 50BMG barrel until they had confirmation its a sporting 50cal being planned. Boyds stock ... no one in the States would go through the paper warfare to send one (we dont even require a B709a) ... but we located one supplier that would.
Bloody ridiculous ... probably easier to get an RPG mailed from Aghanistan stir
Cheers...

SJM- cant seem to be able to PM. My email is chappo05@optusnet.com.au.

To others re barrels/stocks.

You dont need any paperwork for a stock in OZ but you do need it to get it out of US. in the US a stock is a 'firearms part'. Go figure. As for barrels you only need to get a serial no and get it registered when you attach it to the action. you can get a barrel posted directly to you without going through a dealer over here. I didnt believe it either but got it in writing from the NSW Firearms Registry.

cheers

Your almost right ...for a stock you don't need any paperwork to bring it into Australia ,for a threaded and chambered barrel you need an import permit..the b709a which is available from your local FAR at no cost except your time .A barrel blank does'nt require any paperwork as it's not a firearm part until it's threaded and chambered.

It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack; not rationality.

M98,
I have no doubt .. its that kind of incompetence that reqiures a 600% increase in dealer license fees to make them a break even proposition to the taxpayers. lol

I'm not sure you are correct on this point. Stocks are sold in all sorts of mail order catalogues and are commonly used as steadying devices by photographers who mount cameras on them. I'm sure you can't put onw in carry on luggage due to the club factor but many were flown home in checked baggage from SCI and the "SHOT" show.

I did a google of (exporting a gun stock from US) and did come up with this!
quote:
To be in compliance with U.S. State Department Regulations regarding the export of firearm parts, we are not able to ship 10-22 Kits customers outside of the U.S. This is because the kit contains a barrel which is not allowd to be shipped out of the U.S. Those of you with a U.S. mailing address will not be affected. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.

Good luck with it!
